Ukraine is poised to receive a new round of financial support from the European Union as it continues to tackle budgetary and defense challenges, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. This follows a recent infusion of €3.3 billion aimed at bolstering the country’s military capabilities.
President Zelensky highlighted ongoing discussions with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development President Odile Renaud-Basso, focusing on financial aid for Ukraine’s energy sector and the safeguarding of critical infrastructure. These talks also explored support for Ukrainian exporters and domestic producers, with a particular emphasis on assisting farmers.
As Ukraine solidifies its defense strategy for the coming months, Zelensky noted the completion of long-range defense priorities for October. This includes ongoing long-range operations and preparations for additional supplies of F-16 aircraft, expected by year-end.
The Ukrainian leader also announced the selection of initial prototypes for an interceptor system designed to counter jet-powered Shahed drones. The development of these interceptors is underway, with production targets, funding, and timelines currently being established.
