A new report by the Veritas Et Ius Association has shed light on the financial operations of three codification commissions linked to Poland’s Ministry of Justice. The report reveals that these commissions disbursed nearly PLN 4.8 million to their members from 2024 through June 2026. Among the recipients, Krystian Markiewicz emerged as one of the highest earners, receiving PLN 240,000 during this timeframe. Although he was relieved of his position as chairman of the Codification Commission on the Judiciary and the Public Prosecution Service, Markiewicz remains active as a member of the commission.
The commission dedicated to judiciary matters has been particularly costly for taxpayers, amounting to an expenditure of over PLN 1.54 million. This figure is attributed to the 36 meetings convened by the commission over the specified period. However, the report does not provide specific details regarding the attendance or level of participation by individual commission members.
