Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk is set to visit Việt Nam from October 24 to 26, aiming to bolster the longstanding relationship between the two nations through enhanced cooperation in trade, education, science, culture, and political relations. This visit, at the invitation of Vietnamese Prime Minister Lê Minh Hưng, comes as both countries seek to deepen their ties and explore new economic opportunities.
Việt Nam and Poland have maintained diplomatic relations since February 4, 1950, celebrating the 75th anniversary of their partnership in 2025. Over the years, their relationship has progressed through diplomatic dialogue, economic cooperation, and cultural exchanges. Tusk’s visit follows a recent trip by former Vietnamese Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính to Poland in January 2025, where discussions centered on elevating bilateral relations to a strategic partnership.
Economic collaboration remains a focal point, with bilateral trade between Việt Nam and Poland reaching approximately $3.94 billion in 2025, marking a 14.8% increase from the previous year. Việt Nam’s key exports to Poland include electronics, machinery, garments, footwear, coffee, and other agricultural products, while Poland provides machinery, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, and food products to Việt Nam.
The visit is expected to provide a platform for both countries to explore further economic partnerships and strengthen cooperation across significant sectors. Apart from trade, there is a mutual interest in fostering collaboration in education, scientific research, and cultural exchanges, reflecting ongoing efforts to advance shared economic and diplomatic interests.
